Twinning activities in 2021 were still very much curtailed by the corona virus pandemic, this however meant more online talks and virtual links being made. As part of Cheltenham Heritage Open Day 2021 events, Cheltenham Twinning Association gave a talk on the edible delights of our twin towns on Thursday 16 September. Below is the slide presentation that accommpanied the talk.
Cheltenham has received a kind and generous donation of 10,000 disposable face masks from its Chinese twin town of Weihai. These will be distributed to frontline staff and key workers within Cheltenham with a large number going to local care homes. The Council is very grateful to Weihai. In July the Mayor welcomed over 50 pupils from our Chinese twin town of Weihai who were in Cheltenham for 2 weeks. There were two groups; one from the Ivy International School in Weihai who stayed with local families and attended Gloucestershire College’s international summer school.
