Young People & International Partnerships

One of the main aims of the association is to increase the number of young people who participate in and benefit from international activities with all our partner towns.

There are many exchanges which offer students a chance to practice a foreign language as well as an opportunity to see life in a different country.

A wide range of youth groups in all partner towns would welcome contact with clubs in Cheltenham, particularly sports clubs. If you are a member  or a leader of any type of club for young people and would like to make a link with a similar club, do contact us at twinning@cheltenham.gov.uk

Opportunities for young people
Work placements – since Brexit securing work placements in our European partner towns has been harder to facilitate.  However, we are continually researching ways to be able to offer this once again.  Do still get in contact if you are interested.

Göttingen youth sports group always come to Cheltenham in October for a week and would love to welcome a sports group back to Göttingen for sporting and sightseeing activities. If you are a member of a sports club or a leader and would like to visit Göttingen, please get in touch.

Funding for youth projects is sometimes a problem, but help is available from many sources, including Connect Youth International organisation (a branch of the British Council), the Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council, Cheltenham International Partnerships Association, or local sports and arts organisations.
