2025 Peace Camp

A group of six young people from Cheltenham accompanied by Springbank Youth Leaders joined young people from Göttingen and Toruń in the beautiful historic city of Toruń, Poland, hosted by staff and students from the X Liceum Ogólnokształcace.

The 30th anniversary of the Peace Camp in July-August 2025 marked a celebration of young people coming together to participate in a wide range of activities, to share cultural insights, and to forge friendships.

Activities included a guided walking tour of the Old City, which has UNESCO world heritage status; meeting the Deputy Mayor of Toruń; a visit to the Invisible House and the Science Centre Mill of Knowledge; climbing the Town Hall Tower; learning how to make gingerbread biscuits, a river cruise on the beautiful Vistula river in traditional boats with a visit to the Olender Ethnographic park followed by a tasty BBQ, games, and relaxation on a secluded riverside beach; a visit to the astronomical observatory in Piwnice; and a visit to the castle of Golub-Dobrzyn. Such international exchanges represent valuable opportunities for young people to develop intercultural skills, gain confidence and forge international friendships.

We look forward to next year’s collaboration with CIPA international partners, for the 2026 Peace Camp being hosted in Cheltenham.
